Mike Orlando, also known as Mikrodot, has the drive and energy to not only make his own dreams come true, but the dreams of others as well. Starting his musical journey at the age of 7 with the violin, by 12 he realized he wanted to start creating music digitally. He started with hip-hop, moved to trance, ambiance, and now mainly focuses on deep dubstep. Now 28 with over 15 years of music production experience, he has been booked in 18 states and counting within the last 5 years of accepting bookings. Mike not only produces his own tracks, but also mixes and masters them, and creates his own sounds. Respectable labels in the deep dubstep scene have signed Mike’s music, including Heavy Traffic Recordings, Foundation Audio, and his first ever vinyl release with For The Heads Records. He also performs all original sets. Some of his more notable performances include sets at Infrasound, Farm Fest, and Sound Haven music festivals. Mike has a deep understanding of the way the music industry works today, and how to keep up with its fast paced evolution. Starting his teaching career as a private violin teacher, and earning a certificate in music production with high honors at ECC in Illinois, Mike now hopes to bring all of his musical experience and education to Slam to help usher in a new wave of producers, and to provide a fun and immersive learning experience.
