Slam Academy Sonic Sanctuary Participant Agreement 

Liability Waiver, Code of Conduct, and Housing Policy 

Please read thais document carefully. By signing this agreement, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to all terms, rules, and liability releases outlined below. 

1. GENERAL EVENT DETAILS 

● Host / Organization: Slam Academy LLC 

● Event Name: Sonic Sanctuary 

● Location: Cozumel, Mexico 

● Property Arrival / Check-In: Sunday, November 8th, 2026. Participants may arrive starting at 12pm, but must complete check-in no later than 9:00 PM.
● Official Retreat Program Dates: Monday, November 9th to Saturday, November 14th, 2026. 

● Location of AirBnB residence: 15 Av Sur A 1249, Colonia Andrés Quintana Roo, 77663 San Miguel de Cozumel, Q.R., Mexico
● Property Departure / Check-Out: 11:00 AM on Sunday, November 15th, 2026. All participants and their belongings must vacate the property by this time. 

2. ARRIVAL, DEPARTURE, AND FERRY LOGISTICS 

● Ferry Operating Windows: The passenger ferry from Playa del Carmen to the island of Cozumel closes strictly after 8:00 PM Central Time. 

● Transit Buffer Times: Total travel time from the Cancun International Airport (CUN) to the Playa del Carmen ferry port takes between 1 to 3 hours total. 

● Strict Inbound Flight Deadline: To guarantee you do not miss the last ferry and become stranded on the mainland, you must book your inbound flight to arrive in Cancun no later than 4:00 PM Central Time on Sunday, November 8th.
● Strict Outbound Flight Deadline: To allow sufficient time for morning ferry transit and airport security check-in, you must schedule your departure flight out of Cancun no earlier than 1:00 PM Central Time on Sunday, November 15th.

● Itinerary Submission Mandate: Once your flights are booked, you must submit your complete itinerary to erin@slamacademy.com and CC info@slamacademy.com so arrival and departure timelines can be tracked. 

3. RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK 

● Voluntary Participation: The Participant acknowledges that attendance at the retreat is entirely voluntary. 

● Assumption of Risk: The Participant understands that traveling to, within, and around Mexico involves inherent risks. These include, but are not limited to, transportation accidents, illnesses, local crime, and property damage. The Participant freely assumes all such risks. 

● Medical Liability and Insurance: Slam Academy LLC does not provide medical insurance. The Participant is strictly required to secure their own international travel health insurance if they choose. The Participant assumes full financial responsibility for all medical costs incurred during the trip. 

● Waiver of Claims: The Participant agrees to release, waive, and forever discharge Slam Academy LLC, its employees, and affiliates from any and all liability, claims, or demands arising out of injury, illness, death, or property loss during the event. 

4. EXCURSION AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES ADDENDUM 

● Off-Site and Water Risks: The Participant acknowledges that evening excursions on the island of Cozumel involve unique hazards. These include open-water swimming, snorkeling, boating, navigating uneven terrain in low-light conditions, and interacting with local vendors. 

● Physical Fitness: The Participant certifies that they are physically fit to participate in these excursions and assume all risks associated with open-water and outdoor nighttime activities. 

● Third-Party Vendors: Slam Academy LLC may facilitate bookings with local Cozumel tour guides, boat captains, or transport drivers. The Participant agrees that Slam Academy LLC is not responsible or liable for the actions, negligence, or equipment failure of these independent third-party vendors.

5. EQUIPMENT, STUDIO, AND PROPERTY LIABILITY 

● Shared Equipment and Studio Gear: The retreat may provide access to valuable audio interfaces, synthesizers, microphones, and studio hardware. ● Participant Responsibility: The Participant is solely responsible for any damage they cause to the venue's property, studio equipment, or gear loaned by Slam Academy LLC or other participants. 

● Negligence Fees: If equipment is broken due to negligence (e.g., spilling liquids on gear, improper handling), the Participant agrees to pay the full repair or replacement cost before departing the retreat. 

● Personal Property: Slam Academy LLC is not liable for the loss, theft, or damage of the Participant's personal gear, laptops, or belongings. 

6. AIRBNB RENTAL PROPERTY & HOUSING RULES 

● AirBnB Location: 15 Av Sur A 1249, Colonia Andrés Quintana Roo, 77663 San Miguel de Cozumel, Q.R., Mexico 

● Hostel-Style Accommodations: The Participant acknowledges and agrees that the retreat accommodations are arranged in a "hostel-style" format.
● No Assigned Bedding: Specific bedrooms and individual beds are not assigned prior to arrival. Bedding selections will be made on a first-come, first-served basis upon check-in on Sunday, November 8th. 

● Co-Ed Housing: The Participant acknowledges that the hostel-style rooming and shared spaces are co-ed. Men, women, and non-binary participants may share the same bedrooms, bathrooms, and communal areas. 

● Respect for Shared Space: Because of the close, shared nature of hostel-style living, participants are required to keep their personal belongings organized, maintain personal hygiene, and strictly respect the privacy, sleep schedules, and personal boundaries of their roommates. 

● Property Care and Damage: The Participant agrees to treat the Airbnb property, furniture, and amenities with care. Any damage caused to the home, pool, linens, or landscaping by the Participant will be billed directly to them. 

● Strict Timeline Adherence: The Airbnb host enforces strict check-in and check-out windows. Participants who fail to vacate their rooms by 11:00 AM on Sunday, November 15th will be held personally liable for any late checkout fees or financial penalties levied by the property owner against Slam Academy LLC.

● No Unregistered Guests: Only registered retreat participants are permitted on the property. No outside guests, visitors, or local residents are allowed in the Airbnb at any time without express permission from Slam Academy LLC. 

● Quiet Hours: To comply with local Cozumel neighborhood regulations and Airbnb policies, strict quiet hours will be enforced from [Insert Time, e.g., 10:00 PM] to [Insert Time, e.g., 8:00 AM]. Amplified music, loud talking, or studio monitoring must move to headphones or designated soundproof areas during these times. 

● Pool Safety: The pool is used entirely at the Participant's own risk; no lifeguard is on duty. Glassware is strictly prohibited in or around the pool area (use plastic or aluminum only). No diving or running on wet surfaces. 

● Resource Conservation: Cozumel is an island with limited infrastructure. Participants agree to conserve water and turn off air conditioning units, fans, and lights when leaving their rooms or the property to avoid overloading the local electrical grid. 

● Smoking Policy: Smoking or vaping of any substance is strictly prohibited inside the Airbnb. Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas, and all butts must be extinguished and disposed of safely in trash receptacles. 

● Bathroom Plumbing: Due to the sensitive nature of Mexican plumbing and island septic systems, no paper products, wipes, or hygiene products may be flushed down the toilets. All toilet paper must be placed in the provided waste bin next to the toilet. 

7. SHUTTLE AND TRANSPORTATION SERVICE 

● Complimentary Driver Service: Slam Academy LLC will provide a driver service to shuttle participants to and from the Airbnb and designated retreat locations.
● Strict Departure Schedule: Specific departure and arrival times for the shuttle will be posted daily in the communal area. The shuttle will leave precisely at the scheduled times. 

● Participant Responsibility for Delays: The driver will not wait for late arrivals. Failure to be ready and at the designated pickup point at the posted time will leave the Participant entirely responsible for arranging and paying for their own alternative transportation.

8. CODE OF CONDUCT 

● Inclusive Environment: The Participant agrees to foster a respectful, collaborative, and inclusive environment. 

● Zero-Tolerance for Disrespect: This retreat strictly enforces a zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, unwanted sexual advances, or disrespectful behavior. Any disrespectful or inappropriate treatment of fellow participants, hosts, or property staff—whether inside the Airbnb or during excursions—will result in immediate expulsion. 

● Strict No-Drug Policy: This retreat enforces a strict, zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal drugs. The possession, consumption, sale, or sharing of any illegal substances under Mexican law—including cannabis—is strictly prohibited across the entire duration of the retreat, including all locations, the Airbnb property, the studio space, and during all evening excursions on the island of Cozumel. 

● Alcohol Policy: Alcohol will not be provided by Slam Academy LLC. Participants are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages and personal coolers if they choose. Any personal alcohol consumption must remain responsible. Intoxication that disrupts the learning environment, communal living peace, or compromises safety is grounds for dismissal. 

● Alcohol and Water Activities: For safety reasons, the consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited prior to or during any water-based activities (e.g., night swimming, boat tours, snorkeling). 

● Scooter and ATV Rentals: If the Participant chooses to rent a moped, scooter, or ATV independently during free time or excursions, they do so entirely at their own risk, must wear a helmet, and must possess a valid driver's license. The liability waiver of Slam Academy LLC strictly applies to any resulting accidents. 

● Local Laws: The Participant agrees to strictly abide by all federal, state, and local laws of Mexico. [1] 

9. FOOD AND BEVERAGES 

● Provided Refreshments: Slam Academy LLC will provide non-alcoholic (N/A) beverages, breakfast, lunch, and light snacks throughout the duration of the retreat. Participants are responsible for providing their own dinner meals. 

● Dietary Restrictions: Participants are responsible for informing Slam Academy LLC of any severe food allergies or dietary restrictions by October 1st.

10. MEDIA RELEASE AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY 

● Photo and Video Release: The Participant grants Slam Academy LLC the right to use photographs, video recordings, and audio snippets captured during the event for future promotional and marketing purposes. 

● Music and IP Ownership: All intellectual property, beats, songs, or stems created by the Participant during the retreat remain the sole property of the Participant, subject to any collaborative split agreements made independently between participants. 

11. ENFORCEMENT AND TERMINATION 

● Right of Expulsion: Slam Academy LLC reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to immediately terminate a Participant’s attendance if they violate this Agreement or compromise the safety of the group. 

● No Refunds: In the event of removal for misconduct, the Participant’s ticket is completely non-refundable. 

● Return Transportation: If expelled, the Participant will be required to vacate the Airbnb property immediately at their own expense and is solely responsible for arranging and paying for their own early return transit.

● Official Communications Hub: A private Discord server will be established for all participants during the retreat week. This server will serve as the central portal for live updates, transportation tracking, daily schedules, and peer-to-peer logistics.

13. GOVERNING LAW 

● This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Minnesota, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal actions must be filed in that jurisdiction.
