Summer Youth Programs

Slam Academy Youth Programs are one-week long programs, from 10am to 2pm, held in our Minneapolis studio complex. We keep students learning, engaging, and collaborting all day: They will meet other profressional artists and musicians, and come home eager to continue learning. If you know someone who spends their free time making strange noises on their computer – this is the program for them!

We offer two different programs: Youth DJ Program, and Youth Producer Program. Both programs are design for students in grades 8 – 12. Each day lunch will be provided, and a professional educator will be running the show. Slam Academy is dedicated to making safe, wecloming, and accommodating spaces for all people.

Young Producer Summer Program

By popular demand, we are offering the Producer Program twice this summer:

Students will be walked through all of the fundamental concepts and practices of the modern producer. Starting with beat and loop-making, students will be quickly acclimated to the simple and fun workflows within their software. The class will primarily use Ableton Live software, but students who prefer FL Studio, GarageBand, Logic, Reaper, or any other platform are welcome as well. Once the groove is assembled, we will build upon our rhythms with basslines, melodies, harmonies and effects. The class completes with several tunes and a lesson about distributing them to the public via Soundcloud, Bandcamp, and more!
