Young DJ Summer Program

Learn to make your own electronic music and run the party.

In this program, you will be guided through everything you need to know to create incredible sounds from scratch. The course begins at the heart of sound creation with an in-depth study of the nature of both acoustic and electronic sound through analog and modular subtractive synthesis.


Students will be walked through all of the fundamental concepts and practices of the modern DJ. Starting with beat and loop-making, students will be quickly acclimated to the simple and fun workflows a variety of tools include Ableton Live, Traktor, and of course vinyl records.  The class completes with an in-house party and a lesson about distributing live performances to the public via Soundcloud, Bandcamp, and more!

Students are expected to bring a laptop computer, but all software will be provided. Students of all skill levels are welcome, include those with no experience but an excitement to learn.

  • Mixing and Phrasing Techniques

Day 5:

  • Performance workshopping
  • Audio effects
  • Lab work
  • Feedback sessions
  • Practice/Showcase

All classes are taught by Slam Academy expert instructors.
