Group Workshops, Corporate Events, & Team Building Events

The process of making electronic music requires collaboration, constructive feedback, high energy, and a lot of excitement. We’ve created these opportunities to model that creative process for groups in short-term, focused workshops. You won’t find any trust falls here; These workshops are for teams that are ready to work together, have fun, and make some noise. No music experience, hardware, or software is required. We’ll take care of everything.

We offer two types of workshops:

Make an album with your group. This workshop is focused on production. Each member produces a radio-ready track and collaborates with the group to integrate feedback and finalize the mix.

DJ your own party. This workshop is focused on electronic music performance. Team members collaborate to develop a set appropriate for an entertainment event and learn strategies to play it together live. Optionally, Slam Academy supports your performance in the venue you choose (perhaps your annual holiday party or retreat), providing software, performance gear, mixing equipment and a PA system.

Bring your team together with musical creativity. For all group workshops, no previous musical experience is necessary.

In addition to the options listed below, any group is welcome to design their own workshop or event. We would be happy to walk you through designing an event to get the most out of your team and ours. For more information, please contact our Corporate Events Manager, Philip McKinley: phil@slamacademy.com.

Package 1: Create An Album

This workshop can be done in an afternoon, or over multiple days. At the end of the workshops, students will have a finished album that will be provided to each participant on a CD or as a digital download link. Each participant will have one track on the album. The instructor will provide ready-to-use samples and materials that will keep the class having fun by piecing together the elements, instead of learning how to play an instrument from scratch.

Our Northeast Minneapolis studio can accommodate groups up to 25 people. For larger groups, we are happy to work with you to find a location. An additional charge will be applied to move our equipment and instructor to an off-site location. We are happy to host groups as small as 4 people.

Pricing is on a per-participant charge. A final guest count is due seven business days prior to your event, and the final price will be determined by this number regardless of the number of participants who attend. An additional fee will be applied to groups that request lunch or dinner service as part of their package.

Please plan your event at least 2 months ahead of your preferred date. Our instructors are professional musicians who book their shows months in advance, so in order to get on their calendar, we need to work ahead of their schedules. In general, daytime events (before 6pm) work best in our schedule, and weekend events can be arranged as well.

A signed contract and deposit is required to reserve your requested date. The deposit is 30% of the estimated event cost.

Cancellations

If something comes up and you have to cancel your event, please let us know immediately. Your deposit is refundable at 50% up to 30 days prior to the scheduled event date. Cancellations or rescheduling within 30 days of the event date is charged a fee along with forfeiting the initial deposit.
