Young Producer Summer Camp

4285838467_d96327c178_oLearn to make your own electronic music.

This innovative program is designed for students in 8th – 12th grades. The camp is one week long, from 10am to 2pm every day (Monday – Friday), taught by Ted Moore (MacPhail Center for Music, McNally Smith School of Music). The camp takes place at Slam Academy in Northeast Minneapolis, and lunch is provided.

Students will be walked through all of the fundamental concepts and practices of the modern producer. Starting with beat and loop-making, students will be quickly acclimated to the simple and fun workflows within the celebrated Ableton Live software environment. Once the groove is assembled, we will build upon our rhythms with basslines, melodies, harmonies and effects.  The class completes with several tunes and a lesson about distributing them to the public via Soundcloud, Bandcamp, and more!

Students are expected to bring a laptop computer, but all software will be provided. Students of all skill levels are welcome.
